About the event
‘The Summer Walkers’ is a musical work from Highland musician, and fiddle tutor at this year’s Adult Fèis, Chloë Bryce, and showcases stories and songs from prominent voices from within the travelling community and incorporates archive recordings of some of the Highland travellers. The piece, which was originally commissioned by and debuted at Blas Festival 2022, highlights the central role Gaelic-speaking Highland travelling people played in the preservation and transmission of Highland traditions. As well as traditional songs, tunes and stories, the work also features new music inspired by this marginalised community, whilst celebrating the culture of gathering together and sharing stories. Chloë will be joined by Brìghde Chaimbeul, Dave Milligan Music and Calum McIlroy.
